Baldr’s Personality

Baldr is extremely sweet and affectionate. He wants to be near people and be touched, petted, hugged as much as possible. He is very active and playful and can get a little rowdy, but he can be calmed very easily with a firm “no” or “stop.” Several times, Baldr has run out the front door and wandered the neighborhood until he got bored or hungry and come back. Catching him is sometimes difficult when he does this. Baldr will often whine or howl when he is left alone for long periods of time as he needs a lot of human interaction. He does have that tendency of Australian Shepherd Siberian Husky Mix-types to “talk back” or “complain” when told to do something he does not want to do, but will comply.

Baldr’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Baldr loves taking walks, especially long ones, and running free (in a fenced in area). He sometimes will play fetch, but hasn’t quite figured out tug-of-war. Baldr often will amuse himself by tossing his toys and running after them. He likes his squeaky pig, bones filled with peanut butter, his tennis ball and baseball, and rubber bone. He is a huge fan of the more expensive foods like Freshpet, but will eat kibble when he gets hungry. He enjoys a bit of steak and of course chewing on beef bones. He enjoys any sort of treat, especially bacon flavored ones.

Cute Baldr Story:

For some reason, Baldr has decided that where he will sleep at night is on the rug that lies directly under my bed. Though the gap between the edge of the frame and the floor is only about 6 inches (there is a taller space underneath), he wriggles under there every night and doesn’t come out until I get up, even if I sleep in on the weekend.

Why is Baldr Being Rehomed?

Baldr was found wandering the streets by a friend after Hurricane Beryl. He could not locate an owner and asked me if I could take care of him. I have been taking care of Baldr since then, but I cannot be home enough to care for him emotionally, as he really has to have more human contact than I can provide. I do not have much fenced backyard for him, and he needs more outside time than I can give him.

Baldr’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Baldr needs a family that has time to spend with him and work with him. He needs a family that he can really bond with, play with, and spend more time outside with. He cannot thrive in my home; I just don’t have the time to spend with him that he needs. He really has a lot of potential to be a an ideal pet, but he just needs attention, consistency, and stability that I cannot provide.

Again, Baldr just needs more time and contact with a family that has the time and energy to invest in him. He really is a good boy at heart and just wants to be loved and cherished, and he will definitely return the affection. He has little training, but does ok. If more time were spent with him, he is very trainable. He does at least know how to sit and shake.
