Type of Pet: dog
Breed of Pet: Saint Bernard cross bouvier lab Great Pyrenees
Sex of Pet: Male

Behavior Issues: Leash Reactivity – He is great with my two other dogs in the house who are medium and extra large size boy and girl. He is great with my son but at the same time they grew up together. We got chewy when my son was four months old and he has been his protector ever since so I’m not sure if he will get along with other children. It’s possible but I think he’s only like this with my son because they grew up together he was great in his home with anybody we invite into the home, but as soon as he goes on a walk, he is reactive and aggressive, and will turn to bite you sometimes. We feel that the best solution for this problem is to find him an acreage home where he doesn’t need to be leashed.

Chewy’s Personality

He has a lot of energy he loves fetch. He’s very cuddly and affectionate, and he will be your magnet. And your biggest protector

Chewy’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Chewy loves treats and all balls
He won’t fetch anything but tennis balls and those rubber balls

Cute Chewy Story:

We named him chewy because he looks like Chewbacca when he was a pup because his face was all black, but it turned out. He loves to chew everything baseboards walls all of my kids toys so he does need to be in a crate if you leave the house.

Why is Chewy Being Rehomed?

I’m afraid his biting is going to risk my child and I know he would be happier on a farm or an acreage where he doesn’t need to go for walks but if that is not possible, he will need extensive training to rectify his leash reactivity. I’m a full-time working mom with two other dogs and a toddler. And I just don’t have the time or the skills to be able to fix his leash reactivity.

Chewy’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I truly believe he would be best suited in a mature home who is truly going to put in the time and effort he needs in training. He’s very high energy. He loves to play fetch so a big yard would be the best for him because then he doesn’t have to leave his home and see other dogs.

When I do find a home for him, it’s important that we stay in touch because I don’t want him getting into the wrong hands where he’s going to be given up on. If there are any issues and he’s too much I will take him back.
