Dallas, TX – Rusty is a gorgeous red male German Shepherd Chow Chow mix for adoption to a loving home. Fixed, shots, healthy, supplies. 2 years old.
Hi, My name is Rusty!
There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. All supplies will be included.
Rusty is the ultimate dog! This 49 pound bundle of love and licks is a gorgeous red colored German Shepherd / Chow Chow mix. He is only 2, very healthy, fixed, up to date on shots and micro-chipped. Rusty is house trained and very well behaved. Rusty lives in Garland, Texas (near Dallas) with his foster mom.
Rusty’s is a “rags to riches” story! His foster mom found a shivering bundle of bedraggled puppy on her doorstep one day about 2 years ago. She took him into her heart and home and loved him into the magnificent boy he is today.
Rusty is good with kids, other dogs and cats. He is very smart and so affectionate and devoted. He can be a little bit stubborn at times, but his very endearing personality more than makes up for it.
Rusty considers himself to be a lap dog, despite his size. It is rather comical when he climbs up on your lap, or wraps himself around your legs.
Rusty’s foster Mom had always intended to find him the home he deserves. He is looking for a loving home with people who have lots of time to spend with him, a nice, securely fenced back yard, and who will love him unconditionally. In return, Rusty will provide so much love and devotion. He will make you feel safe, appreciated and very much loved.
Please offer this golden bear of a dog the loving home he needs and deserves today. He can’t wait to meet you and charm his way into your heart and home.

I love that he wants to be close to me. He lays next to me or wraps himself around my feet and/or chair.
I love that he thinks he is small dog and as result he tries to climb in my lap.
I also like that he barks when someone approaches the house or front door. He is a good early warning system.
I love that he is a good walking companion (even with the sniffing for squirrels and rabbits distractions).
I love the way he reacts to a good belly rub ( at least twice a day.)
Rusty’s Current Home Environment
My house is approximately 3,000 sq. ft. I have a two-story house with a big backyard. He and the other dog spends as much time outdoors as he wants. I do not have a dogie door so they bark or scratch at the door to let me know they want inside.
My backyard has shade and I keep a bowl of water outside all day. I would benefit from a dogie door. He is pretty much confined to the downstairs (floors are tile and wood). His crate is downstairs as he is on locked in at night, bedtime. And when I am away from the house for a few hours.
Rusty’s Current Family:
I pretty much home all day. I am an adjunct professor and a bank consultant so I work from home. My husband travels and my oldest granddaughter lives with us. She away at college. My husband feeds and walks dogs when he is home. My granddaughter has a dog and he gets along with Rusty.
I usually teach my classes online but I also sometime teach a class one night a week on campus. My son and his family come over frequently so interacts with the 2 year-old.
Rusty’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Rusty has a variety of toys. His favorite toys is a nyla bone, stuffed moose and blanched bone. He still likes to chew o things and the toys do nicely.
Favorite foods: string cheese, peanut butter (n the blanched bone), blueberry treats, Milo chicken jerky. Paul Newman peanut butter treats and Siggis yogurt.
Cute Rusty Story:
I was exercising and I was sitting and laying on the floor. Rusty comes over and decides to occupy the same space. It is hard to exercise on the floor when he keeps trying to lick you.
I was sitting in my recliner watching TV when all of a sudden I have Rusty climbing in my lap. He is almost 50 lbs but he thinks he small dog that fits in your lap. It was kind of a cute gesture.
Why is Rusty Being Rehomed?
Rusty was abandoned on my door step. My dog found a frightened and mistreated puppy shivering under a bush in the front of my house. I took him and got him healthy and provided some training. I just wanted to foster him until was healthy.
In interim I rescued another puppy and I do plan to keep him. I now have three dogs and a cat. I can take care of two dogs ans cat but not four animals. In addition my budget can only manage three animals.
Rusty’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Rusty deserves to be with an owner who can focus on more time on him. I am looking for a family that enjoy having a pet. The need to provide a loving environment. They need some experience with handling a dog because you need patience. I am looking for a family that likes walking and playing with their dog. A family that doesn’t mind that he sticks his nose (and body in your lap because he wants attention. And because he thinks you need attention.
He is a good dog and I will miss him. At the same time I know my limits from a physical and financial standpoint.
